Save your money and forget the extensions. Real lashes are the new falsies thanks to the recent invention of 3D mascara.
We tested two products to see how they stacked up against each other, and we’ve put together a few takeaways for the gal (or guy) who is on the lookout for a lash boost.
Looky Eyes 3D Mascara and Green Tea Fibres
What’s in it?
Green tea and nylon fibres
How was the experience?
I won’t lie, applying little tiny fibres so close to my eyeballs was not something I was looking forward to doing.
Instructions suggest to apply a coat of your favourite mascara prior to applying the gel. If you are going for a more natural look, you can skip this step. Otherwise, you should apply your mascara. I used Stila Huge Mascara (reviewed below).
Once you’ve applied your mascara, apply one coat of the gel. Please note that it dries very quickly, so you will need to work fast.
Apply one coat of the fibres, let set and follow with a coat of gel. Repeat until you’re satisfied with the product to lash ratio.
Despite the stray fibres, I must admit the product lived up to my expectations. My lashes were a hit with the ‘squad’, and overall I preferred this application process over false lashes. Just be sure to throw on an extra coat of gel to seal those fibres in!
Removal of the product works best with warm water and an oil-based cleanser
Stila Lash Stunner Base and Huge Mascara
I absolutely LOVED this one. First of all, the lack of fibres flying into my eyeballs made for a more pleasant user experience. As well, I discovered that I can apply the ‘stunner’ to my eyebrows for some added volume.
Apply one coat of Stila Lash Stunner as a base (which has fibres combined in the product), followed by Stila Huge mascara.
Bonus: create thicker eyebrows!
Yes, there’s finally a solution for those of us who are still suffering the consequences from over-plucking in the early 2000’s! Simply drag the Stila Lash Stunner brush lightly using a back-and-forth motion over your brows, using a final stroke from the inner eye towards the outer corner. Allow to set and lightly apply a matching shade of eye shadow to set.
Those of us who have messed around with false lashes know how frustrating and time consuming the process can be.
Both of these products are a great option for the holidays – whether for you or a friend. Fake lashes, be gone! 3D mascara is where it’s at.
