Are you on a tight budget but find yourself craving that spa experience?
We’ve all been there.
Luckily, there’s an economically friendly alternative to the ‘make it rain’ trips to the spa. If you’ve got coconut oil kicking around the house and you happen to be a coffee drinker, you are in luck! Save those grounds, and get ready to make your very own DIY body scrub at home.
Coffee is great for many reasons: it wakes us up in the morning, tastes great in desserts and serves as an antioxidant. Caffeine is also the main ingredient in anti-cellulite creams, but keep in mind that the effects from the caffeine are only noticeable short-term, so results will be very temporary. This DIY body scrub is a great exfoliator and your skin will feel super soft afterwards.
Coconut oil is our preferred go-to oil for essentially everything. It’s nourishing, great for hydration and has anti-bacterial properties, so kiss those skin problems good bye. Did we mention that it also smells incredible?

DIY Body Scrub with Coffee & Coconut Oil
Ingredients:
Coconut oil
Sugar
Coffee grounds
Method:
Combine 1/2 cup of coffee powder with 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of coconut oil.
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and apply it all over your body. No, really, go to town. let it sit on your skin for 10 mins, then scrub gently until the mixture becomes dry. Then wash it off.
You can scale down the recipe to a facial specific quantity of 1/2 tbsp for each ingredient.
Bonus: If you’re one of the many who own Nespresso machines and fear for the environment, simply remove the top foil casing, remove the grounds and deposit them into a bowl. Keep going until you have enough grounds for your scrub mixture. The emptied aluminum pods can be recycled at a local Nespresso boutique near you.
Voila!
