Canada’s longest-running LGBT film festival, is all set to return for another 10 days of the finest LGBT cinema from across the globe, and it begins today!
Image+Nation – in is 27th year, will run until November 30th and feature films from around the globe, as well our very own talent-packed Canadian and Quebecois film makers. The festival will feature the Eastern Canadian premiere of Maureen Bradley’s Two 4 One, XYZ – a stunning documentary exploring the highs and lows of the transformation from woman to man, the hilarious reprobate comedy Guidance, and the Queerment Québec programme, a series of locally produced shorts.
According to Katharine Setzer, image+nation Programming Director, ‘although we love to screen amazing films from all around the world, we also have a great responsibility to support local filmmaking and the talent we have on our doorsteps. And these are all fantastic movies regardless of their origin.’
Awesome news Katharine, we couldn’t agree more!
In addition to the local films, we are equally anticipating the impressive international roster of queer realities and accomplished storytelling from across the globe. These will feature; Swedish drama Something Must Break, Mischa Kamp’s Boys (Holland), Sundance success story Appropriate Behaviour, the Russian portrait of fractured society Winter Journey, award-winning Swiss Docudrama The Circle, and Blair Doroshwalter’s disturbing documentary about the New Jersey Four Out In The Night.
The annual LGBT film festival will bring the best of world LGBT cinema for the 27th year in a row to Montréal, with a line-up of unflinching, powerful documentaries, beautifully shot art-house creations, hilarious comedies and more.
Image+nation 27 has something for all tastes, but this year, the festival organizers will deliver an added exotic treat: Image+Nation presents ‘New Latin Voices’, a Festival Focus specifically dedicated to the finest LGBT cinema from across Latin America.
Long story short: you don’t want to miss this.
Check out Image+Nation’s online program and keep up with them on Facebook (because it’s far more interesting than keeping up with those Kardashians…lezbehonest)
