Not all fragrances are created equal. Some prefer a musky scent with hints or bergamot or woodsy notes. For others it’s fruity, floral and heavy on the freesia.
Whatever it is that you’re looking for, it’s important to keep in mind that body chemistry plays a key role in how a fragrance smells directly from the bottle, versus the reality of what it smells like ‘on’ us.
Typically, I wear mens fragrances. No, it has nothing to do with my sexuality, but rather because of how it smells ON me. For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to the scent of muted earthy tones, which is why I am a die-hard fan of Hermès Terre. With Voyage coming in at a close second – and anything with gardenia, bergamot, lilac, lavender, jasmine or orange blossom. The tricky part is finding something that isn’t too sweet or over loaded with chemicals.
Hermes VoyageIf you find yourself sensitive to chemical-ridden fragrances, then essential oils is where you should be looking.
Appia makes a lovely travel-sized roll-on fragrance, and it’s made with all-natural ingredients that are grown right here in Quebec! What I love about Appia is that I don’t have to worry about what I’m putting on my skin – and I can carry it in virtually any sized purse. It’s very subtle, but concentrated enough to notice.
Appia Latitude 03I recently discovered the latest scent by Azzaro, Pour Elle – and it certainly is for her.
This Eau de Parfum is ideal for the woman who wants to be noticed, but still remain subtle in her efforts. Hints of vanilla, this luxurious fragrance is a great purchase for the woman who wants to smell like a million bucks without having to over-spend. Marked at $70 CDN, Pour Elle is an economical choice for any woman who is searching for the perfect scent that won’t break the bank. Fashioned by its “very couture”, sensual and refined ingredients, Azzaro Pour Elle graces the skin with “floral woody amber” signature notes.
How important is it to find that right scent? According to Loris Azzaro:
Azzaro Pour Elle and Burberry Brit RhythmIt is important to seduce. For me, fragrance is an essential weapon of seduction.
Burberry launched their latest women’s fragrance not long ago in March. The packaging is girly and minimal, which contrasts the fruity, powdery scents present inside the bottle. Brit Rhythm is inspired by the energy and anticipation of live music, which is a central theme for the brand on an international scale. This Eau de Toilette smells just like it looks; soft pink, florals, ambery woods, driftwood and musk help to tone it down. Burberry Brit Rhythm For Her Floral Eau de Toilette is marked at a price point of $80 CDN.
My takeaways for this post are simply to sniff before you leap:
The only way to tell which one is right for you is to try it on in store. I highly suggest that you do this before purchasing anything online.
