Henri Saint-Henri recently celebrated their first anniversary, and we were there to taste their carefully selected, beautifully crafted spring menu.
The harmony of flavours were perfectly balanced in each dish, and the bright colours served well.
The Spring Menu at Henri Saint-Henri
Here’s a break-down of what we tasted:
The Amuse Bouche was a beautifully plated Gaspacho. The olive oil powder, home made black garlic with mustard ice cream was one for the books.
Served with Pecorino, Zaccagnini – an Italian wine from Abruzzes (2013) paired marvellously.
Sliced Speck quinoa salad with cantaloupe and fresh plum salicorne
This dish went well with wine: Cheverny, Phillipe Tessier Loire from France.
Next up was the Albacore Tuna Crudo with pickled jalapeno, mizuna, cucumber, altufo mango, watermelon radish and crispy shallots.
This aesthetically pleasing dish was served with Viognier Red Stone from Ontario Canada (2013).
Fluke green pea & mint puree with fennel and fresh confit lemon, smoked herring roe and horseradish. The Sauvignon Gris , Gilles Bonnefoy Loire France (2013) did this dish justice.
Lamb Rump with charred eggplant, beets, black kale, cumin crumble, cilantro, lamb jus and chiogga.
This dish was paired with Syrah, Copain from California US (2012).
Finally for dinner, we were treated with this elaborately decorated chocolate mousse variety. The combination of dark, white and milk chocolate left me craving more. Served with drops of sea buckthorn gel, caramelized bananas, chocolate cake cut into tiny rectangles that would leave any minimalist lover ooh-ing and ahh-ing before they even tasted the dish.
The wine pairing: Bugey de Cedron, Renardat-Fâche, Savoie, France.
So, needless to say: Henri Saint-Henri really impressed us with their spring menu, and we would highly recommend booking a reservation to taste it for yourselves.
Which bring us to our next point:
