Gyms are sometimes referred to as a second home because it’s where we go to spend time and get away from the monotony of the day-to-day hustle. Like, we get that and all but how much time to you really want to invest in working out every week? Time, yes time is more often than not what prevents us (cough cough) or ‘excuses’ us from working out. “I don’t have enough time” versus “I don’t want to invest the time” is just a range of how honest we are willing to be with ourselves.
What if I told you that you could get a full-body workout with added benefits in only 20 minutes? If you are looking for a fitness studio that is private, welcoming and personalized – look no further. Studio X Ville Saint-Laurent is the place for you.
We visited Studio X and got the high-tech workout of a lifetime with the studios co-owner, Alexander Langlois. Thanks to advancements in technology, this workout technique first hit fitness clubs 10 years ago in Europe, and migrated over to North America this past year.
What’s it like?
If you’ve ever gone through physiotherapy that required little electro pads being placed on your muscles to ‘wake them up’, this pretty much nails the technology. It feels pretty weird, yet satisfying at the same time. This combined with the exercises instructed by physiotherapist, brings these muscles ‘back to life’ – so it’s kind of like that. Since the padding requires humidity to create a contraction in your muscles, the suit is sprayed with water. Not unlike the gel applied to the pads during physiotherapy sessions.
So, how does it work?
The fit suit helps to activate over 90% of the muscle fibers concurrently during each contraction. In an average session, you could expect muscle groups to contract approximately 20,000 times! This includes deeper muscle fibres, compared to conventional strength training.
While this workout is safe and effective, it’s advised that you check with your medical professional prior to strapping on the fit suit if you have any serious health concerns. Read more about this on the Studio X FAQ page.
