Well folks, we are in the final stretch of the season. Yes, it’s hard to believe that August is the last full month of this sweaty (and sometimes rainy!) season. Allow us to make some recommendations to ensure that you maximize your enjoyment during the final stretch with this summer guide before all hell breaks loose (see: back-to-school, back-to-work, back-to-coldness).
The Local Scene: Piknic Electronik and First Fridays
Piknic Electronik (Thursday August 6th)
This will be the 3rd FREE Piknic event at Jardins Gamelin, and it’s happening tonight! This event has been curated in collaboration with the gang from ÎLESONIQ, and offers the excellent music from Ryan Playground, The One Tash, Prince Club. The organizers will announce one mystery guest just before the event, so stay tuned-in to their Facebook page for all the details to come!

VHS – Van Horne Station (Saturday August 8th)

Produced by Piknic Électronik, MURAL and Les Premiers Vendredis, this new event will take place under the famous Van-Horne viaduct. The purpose? To celebrate music, urban art and street cooking. VHS is a true celebration of Montreal’s creativity – sure to stimulate & satisfy all of your senses.
The musical menu will feature rich beats a la Moonshine: Poirier, Pierre Kwenders, J.u.D. and Yung Bambii, that are sure to keep you grooving all night long. What’s a dance party without some grub? Several loved food trucks will serve party-goers, including: Mi Corazón, Lahmajoun, Phoenix 1, Ô soeurs volantes.
When: August 8, 2015 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: Under the Van-Horne viaduct, at the park near 5795 de Gaspé. Site entrance: corner of rue Marmier and avenue Henri-Julien.

Piknic Electronik (August 9th Regular Programming)
In collaboration with FMD (Festival Mode and Design) this fashion heavy event will also welcome style ‘scouts’ – a team from FMD that will select the top fashionistas and fashionistos present on Sunday. Those selected will be invited to strut their stuff down the catwalk during the city’s fashion event, Festival Mode and Design.

First Fridays Food Trucks
Looking for a tasty social event to end your week off on a high note? Visit the Montreal food trucks for their traditional First Fridays at the Big O! Whether you’re a veggie or a meat-a-tarian, here’s a little something there for everyone. You can also satisfy your sweet tooth with the masses, or get your drink-on in the boozy lounge.

Spa Bota Bota

Wanderlust in Tremblant
What summer guide would be complete without a fun and healthy festival? Calling all yogis, health geeks and meditation junkies: Mont Tremblant will be hosting their annual Wanderlust Festival between August 20th-23rd! The largest four-day yoga lifestyle festival event in the world allows attendees to choose their own adventure from a variety of activities, which includes:
Yoga
Live music
Meditation
Explorative hikes
Kayaking
Running treks
Fine dining
The theme is simple: yoga, music and mindfulness. After a non-stop summer, you would be wise to treat yourself to a weekend filled with positive vibes and wellness workshops to bring you back into the present moment. Believe me when I say this event is not to be missed!
In addition to the usual build-your-own-schedule, this year the organizers have created several add-ons: TY KU sake tastings (Thursday and Friday late afternoons), soulscape classes, and a brand new black light venue

Spa Balnea
A spa is nice, but a spa with a private lake is nicer. Spa Balnea is currently hosting Été des Chefs on Sundays, which will continue until August 30th. Spa goers will take comfort in the convenience of relaxing and eating well while enjoying the beauty of Bromont from the chalet atop the hill.
